In the summer of 2014, Lies Colman and Luis Andrade performed Lysenko’s elegy “Sum” at the memorial concert for Sir Walter Boeykens, the maestro who had introduced them years before and had passed away earlier that year. This moment of solemnity and musical emotion triggered a wish with both artists: to undertake a quest for a concert program that would evoke the same reflection and spirit they had found in “Sum”.

This program was found in the combined works of Borodin, Lysenko and Kossenko. Three pieces connected through their melodic and harmonic intensity, but also through their musical genealogy. Lysenko was greatly influenced by the Mighty Five, of which Borodin was a prominent exponent, and in turn, Lysenko was an essential inspiration to Kossenko.
